Our client is a well-established and growing food manufacturing business based in Melbournes South Eastern Suburbs. They are currently seeking an experienced and hands-on Afternoon Shift Oven Team Leader to join their production team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading the oven production line across the afternoon shift, ensuring smooth operations, high-quality output, and strong team performance.

This is a hands-on leadership position where you will actively oversee production flow, troubleshoot issues, maintain food safety standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise oven line operations across the full shift
  • Drive production output and minimise downtime
  • Monitor oven performance, temperatures, run rates, and product quality
  • Ensure ingredients are staged and production schedules are achieved
  • Manage and support a team of oven operators
  • Conduct QA checks and maintain accurate production documentation
  • Ensure GMP, HACCP, food safety, and allergen procedures are followed
  • Drive waste reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate shift handovers and communicate production updates effectively
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
  • Operate forklifts and support material handling where required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a Team Leader or Leading Hand role within food manufacturing
  • Strong experience operating ovens or similar production equipment
  • Proven ability to lead teams and achieve production targets
  • Sound knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety, and QA processes
  • Current forklift licence (essential)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • A proactive, reliable, and hands-on approach to leadership
